Georgia’s Annual Inflation at 10.6% in October
Georgia’s annual inflation rate amounted to 10.6% in October, the National Statistics Office (Geostat) reported on 3 November. On a monthly basis, meanwhile, consumer prices increased by 0.5%.
The annual inflation rate was primarily driven by price changes in food and non-alcoholic beverages (15.8% increase); transport (11.6% increase); and housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels (13.5%).
Looking at food and non-alcoholic beverages, prices increased for the following subgroups: bread and cereals (26.1%), milk, cheese, and eggs (22.1%), mineral waters, soft drinks, fruit, and vegetable juices (21.9%), coffee, tea, and cocoa (20.6%), oils and fats (18.3%), sugar, jam, honey, chocolate, and confectionery (16.9%), fish (12.3%) meat (9.0%), vegetables (3.5%) and fruits and grapes (3.4%).
The monthly inflation rate was mainly driven by price changes in food and non-alcoholic beverages (1.4%), housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels (1.3%), and clothing and footwear (3.8%). Meanwhile, prices decreased for transport (2.0%).
