Georgia’s Annual Inflation at 3.5% in May 2025

Georgia’s annual inflation rate in May was 3.5%, according to the National Statistics Service (Geostat). Consumer prices rose by 0.4% compared to the previous month.

Geostat reported that the annual inflation rate was primarily influenced by price changes in health (9% increase), food and non-alcoholic beverages (8.3% increase), miscellaneous goods and services food and non-alcoholic beverages (5.9% increase), and transport (4.5% decrease).

The monthly inflation rate was primarily driven by price changes in the following categories: food and non-alcoholic beverages (up 1.6%), restaurants and hotels (up 1.4%), clothing and footwear (up 0.8%), and transportation (down 1.1%).

As for food and non-alcoholic beverages, the prices increased for the following subgroups: vegetables (8.7%), fruit and grapes (8.3%), mineral waters, soft drinks, fruit and vegetable juices (1.8%), fish (1.4%), sugar, jam, honey, chocolate and confectionery (1.2%), meat (0.9%), bread and cereals (0.6%).

In contrast, prices declined for milk, cheese, and eggs (-1.6%), coffee, tea, and cocoa (-0.6%), oils and fats (-0.1%).
