Georgian Citizen Detained Near Occupation Line in Abkhazia

The State Security Service of Georgia (SSG) stated on 2 November that the Russian occupying forces have illegally detained a Georgian citizen near the occupation line in Abkhazia.  

The SSG stated that Tbilisi immediately activated the European Union Monitoring Mission (EUMM) administered hotline and informed the Co-Chairs of the Geneva International Discussion (GID) about the detention.  

It also noted that full responsibility for “the destructive actions, gross violations of human rights and undermining the security environment in Georgia’s occupied regions and the occupation lines rests with the occupying force.”
