As the Abkhazian news agency Apsnypress reported, Khajimba said on September 8, that Abkhazia will launch broad economic cooperation with Georgia only after Tbilisi recognizes Abkhazia’s independence.

“By developing friendly relations with Russia, we want to strengthen our independence. We are interested in boosting mutually beneficial ties with Russia,” Khajimba added.

Raul Khajimba has just quitted the Prime Minister’s position to run for the presidential elections on October 3 and is endorsed by both current president Vladislav Ardzinba and the Russian president Vladimir Putin.
