New Governor Appointed in Mtskheta-Mtianeti Region

Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili appointed Levan Zautashvili as the new governor of Mtskheta-Mtianeti region in eastern Georgia.

In 2013-2017, Levan Zautashvili served as the director general of Castel Georgia; he has also worked for World Bank projects, according to the Georgian government’s administration.

Levan Zautashvili replaced Gocha Zeikidze, who served as the governor of Mtskheta-Mtianeti region from March 2016 till June 2017.

Unlike heads (Gamgebeli) of municipalities, who are directly elected since 2014, provincial governors are appointed by prime minister.
