Tskhinvali Rejects Meeting on Detained Persons

Authorities in breakaway South Ossetia said they would not take part in a meeting with the Georgian officials in frames of the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism (IPRM).

EU Monitoring Mission in Georgia (EUMM) called on Tbilisi and Tskhinvali to hold IPRM meeting early next week to address the issue of detained persons on the both side of the administrative border and to discuss issues related with freedom of movement.

“The South Ossetian side has warned for multiple times during the Geneva discussions, that we would not participate in these meetings [in frames of IPRM] unless we receive information about the missing South Ossetian citizens,” Boris Chochiev, South Ossetian leader’s envoy for post-conflict resolution issues, said in remarks posted on a website of the breakaway region’s authorities on January 9.
