GD Interior Minister Geka Geladze Visits Israel
Georgian Dream Interior Minister Geka Geladze is on an official visit to Israel, where he is being hosted by Israel’s far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, the Georgian Interior Ministry said on October 20, releasing photos of Geladze and Ben-Gvir.
The visit by Geladze, who is accompanied by a delegation, comes after Ben-Gvir’s official visit to Georgia in August, during which he met with senior Georgian Dream officials, including PM Irakli Kobakhidze and Geladze.
During the Georgian delegation’s visit to Israel, Geka Geladze and Itamar Ben-Gvir signed a cooperation memorandum that “will help expand existing police cooperation between Georgia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs and Israel’s Ministry of National Security in various areas, including the exchange of professional experience and the further strengthening of cooperation between the two countries’ migration departments and police academies,” the Georgian Interior Ministry said.
“During the bilateral meeting, the ministers discussed current issues of cooperation between the law enforcement agencies,” the MIA press release added. “Particular attention was paid to ongoing and future initiatives aimed at sharing experience and best practices between the two sides.”
According to the Interior Ministry’s press release, Geka Geladze highlighted the “special role of police attachés in strengthening bilateral cooperation” and thanked his Israeli counterpart for “a productive working meeting and for the hospitality.”
