Georgian Defense Minister Attends Ramstein Group Meeting

The Minister of Defense of Georgia Irakli Chikovani paid visit to Germany, where the 24th meeting of Ukraine Defense Contact Group, the so-called Ramstein group meeting, was held, the Georgian MOD reported on September 6.

“The participants of the meeting held at the Ramstein Air Base discussed the current situation in Ukraine and the need for coordinated military assistance to the country,” reads the MOD’s brief press-release.

It was the first Ramstein format meeting with the direct participation of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, who hosted the meeting, promised that over 50 countries would continue to provide all necessary assistance to Ukraine, including air defense systems, artillery shells, and F-16 fighter jets.

The Defense Contact Group of Ukraine was established in April 2022 under the initiative of the United States of America and unites more than 50 countries supporting Ukraine.
