Geostat: Annual Inflation 1.5% in July
Georgia’s annual inflation stood at 1.5% in July, after 1.1% in previous month, according to the state statistics office Geostat.
On monthly basis prices were up 0.2% in July.
Prices in the group of alcoholic beverages and cigarettes rose by 13.1% year-on-year in July, caused mostly by increase of excise tax on tobacco and alcohol products.
Inflation in the group of housing, water, electricity and gas was up 6.1% y/y in July.
Annual inflation in the healthcare group stood at 4.1% in July, driven by 8.7% y/y increase of prices for outpatient services, and 2% y/y price increase for hospital services.
Prices for hotels and restaurants services increased 5.4% y/y in July and prices for communication services were up by 3.9% y/y.
Prices in the transport group were down by 8.6% y/y in July, driven mostly by 12% y/y fall of prices on vehicles.
