Kavkasia TV Resumes Broadcasts
Tbilisi-based Kavkasia TV resumed broadcasts on Friday evening, May 16.
The TV station, which airs only in the capital Tbilisi and severs as a major platform for the opposition ahead of the May 21 parliamentary elections, suspended broadcast on May 14 after one part of its transmitter was damaged. The TV management said it resolved the problem in the shortest period of time.
Nino Jangirashvili, director of the TV station, told the Georgian daily Rezonansi, that it was not possible to claim that the damage was deliberate, because “we have nothing to prove it.”
Kavkasia TV was put off the air after the November events along with Imedi TV. It resumed broadcasts on November 16 after the state of emergency was lifted.
