Georgia Wants Foreign Diplomats to Visit Kodori

The Georgian Foreign Ministry has denied Russia?s allegations that Georgian army units are stationed in the Tbilisi-administered upper Kodori Gorge in breakaway Abkhazia and has invited foreign diplomats to the area to examine the situation on the ground.

?Consultations are underway with the UN Observer Mission in Georgia to carry out monitoring [in Kodori Gorge], while foreign diplomats accredited in Georgia will soon have a chance to get acquainted with the situation on the ground,? the Georgian Foreign Ministry said on September 25. A specific date for a possible diplomats? visit to the gorge was not mentioned.
