Georgian PM: Status Quo Unacceptable in South Ossetia
Georgian Prime Minister Zurab Nogaideli said on September 8 that he has met with foreign diplomats accredited in Georgia and told them that the current status quo in the South Ossetian conflict zone is unacceptable for Tbilisi.
?It is absolutely obvious to everyone that maintaining the status quo in the South Ossetian conflict zone is not bringing any results. Hence, it is necessary to take immediate measures for resolving the conflict,? Nogaideli told reporters on September 8.
He said that a September 8 clash, which left three South Ossetian militiamen and one Georgian officer dead and two others injured, was part of a recent series of provocations in the conflict zone.
?Naturally, we condemn this fact. I have already briefed foreign ambassadors on it, whom I met today,? PM Nogaideli said.
