Bomb Scare at Stadium False Alarm
Officials said on August 28 that a bomb threat at the Tbilisi stadium, where Georgia will host a Euro 2008 qualifying match against France on September 2, was a false alarm.
Police sealed the area and sent sniffer dogs after receiving information about a bomb on August 29.
The false bomb threat came after hundreds of angry fans blocked the street at Boris Paichadze Stadium as they tried in vain to purchase tickets for the September 2 Euro 2008 qualifier match.
The administration of the stadium said the delay in ticket sales was caused by ongoing renovation works.
Georgia launched its qualifying tournament with a 6-0 victory over the Faroe Islands on August 16.
