Opposition Launches ‘Georgia without Saakashvili’ Campaign
The nine-party opposition coalition’s protest campaign is to adopt a new slogan – ‘Georgia without Saakashvili,’ MP Zviad Dzidziguri of the opposition Conservative Party, part of the coalition, said at a joint briefing outside Parliament on February 4.
On February 5 the opposition coalition will begin collecting signatures for a campaign entitled “I have not Elected Saakashvili.” On February 7 a protest rally will be held outside Tbilisi State University and another is due ro take place outside Parliament on February 15.
Meanwhile, the coalition will continue with a series of talks with the ruling party. The discussions are centred around the 17-point joint memorandum developed by twelve opposition parties. A second round of talks is planned for 6 pm local time on February 5. The first round was held on February 1.
“How long the rallies continue depends on to what extent our demands outlined in the memorandum are met,” MP Dzidziguri said on February 4.
