Abkhaz FM Threatens to Reject Western Mediation

Abkhazia will refuse to accept mediation from countries that recognize the independence of the Serbian province of Kosovo, but not that of Abkhazia, Abkhaz Foreign Minister Sergey Shamba said.

The separatist foreign minister, quoted by the Abkhaz Foreign Ministry press service and reported by Apsnypress, made his comments to visiting UK Ambassador to Georgia Denis Keefe.

“The continued participation of such mediators in the negotiation process will prove impossible, due to their bias, lack of objectivity and an equally distanced position from all sides,” Shamba said.
