The Georgian President’s aide for Abkhaz issues, Irakli Alasania, said on May 10 that a session of the Georgian-Abkhaz Coordination Council is scheduled to be held in Tbilisi next week. The Abkhaz delegation will be led by Foreign Minister Sergey Shamba.
“During this session we will discuss the key trends of the Council’s activities – return of internally displaced persons, security and economic cooperation issues; we will also develop future plans,” Irakli Alasania told Civil Georgia.
“The meetings will be nearly every month, on a regular basis,” he added.
Tbilisi and Sokhumi agreed to resume the activities of the Georgian-Abkhaz Coordination Council after talks between Irakli Alasania and Sergey Shamba on March 29 in Sokhumi.
