Russia Reiterates Universality of Kosovo Precedent

In an interview with the Russian newspaper Novie Izvestia published on April 18 Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Grigory Karasin reiterated Russia’s position that the Kosovo solution should be applied to cases of other conflicts.

“We do not share the arguments put forth by those who are claiming the so called ‘unique nature’ of solving Kosovo issues through granting the region independence… Naturally, the decision of the international community over Kosovo will be a universal precedent from the international point of view for other unrecognized but functional de facto state-like entities,” Karasin said.
