State Minister to Brief MPs over Conflict Zones
At a session on November 8 Parliamentarians requested that State Minister for Conflict Resolution Issues Giorgi Khaindrava brief them about the current situation in the Abkhaz and South Ossetian conflict zones at a session next week.
A Parliamentary hearing of the State Minister will apparently take place after the meeting of quadripartite Joint Control Commission (JCC) which will be held in the Slovenian capital Ljubljana on November 15-16.
Also at the session on Tuesday parliamentarians condemned the death of a Georgian civilian in the Gali district of breakaway Abkhazia, who was, according to the Georgian side, beaten to death by Abkhaz militiamen. But the Abkhaz side dismissed these allegations.
?This fact [concerning the death of civilian in the conflict zone] has once again confirmed that the Russian peacekeeping mission in the conflict zone is ineffective,? Georgian Parliamentary Chairperson Nino Burjanadze said.
