Bagapsh, Khajimba Meet in Moscow

The two main Abkhaz presidential candidates Raul Khajimba and Sergey Bagapsh met in Moscow on November 2 in an attempt to make a breakthrough in the regional crisis, which erupted in the unrecognized Abkhazian Republic after disputed October 3 presidential elections, reports Itar-Tass news agency.

?Together with Sergey Bagapsh, we have discussed possible ways out of the current crisis in Abkhazia. Moscow?s climate is better for finding a solution,? pro-governmental presidential candidate Raul Khajimba, who enjoys the support of the Kremlin, told Itar-Tass news agency on November 2.

?I feel that options to overcoming the crisis exist. Everything depends on Sergey Bagapsh and me,? he added. However, he refrained from specifying details of a possible agreement, which will lead to a breakthrough.

Georgian State Minister for Conflict Resolution Issues Goga Khaindrava, who is also currently visiting Moscow, said at a news briefing on November 2 that ?the fate of Abkhazia?s new President will be decided in Moscow. That is why both of them are currently here [in the Russian capital].?
