EU Allocates 1,3 million Euros to Assist Georgian Elections

European Union will assist Georgia with 1,3 million euros for a programme of election-assistance activities, which is implemented by the UNDP.

“The conduct of elections in March will determine to a great extent the country’s future development, and for this reason the international community will continue to offer all the held it can to ensure that elections contribute to the democratic development of Georgia,” Torben Holtze, Head of Delegation of the European Commission, said at a press conference at the Elections Media Center on February 27.

The EU’s assistance is mainly focused on providing the Central Election Commission with the legal and technical capacity as well as the material and logistical means to administer the elections in line with international standards.

EU allocated 700,000 euros for the January 4 presidential elections for the same purposes.
