US Embassy Supports Electoral Reform

(Tbilisi, July 30, 2003, Civil Georgia) – The US reiterates its strong support to free and fair elections in Georgia, the news release issued by the US Embassy in Georgia on July 30 says.

“Adoption by the Parliament of amendments to the Election Code, including reform of election commissions, is a necessary element of democratic elections in Georgia,” the news release writes.

The United States encourages the Parliament of Georgia and all political parties to quickly reach a consensus and approve this vital legislation.
