Ex-GPB Head Becomes President’s Aide on Ethnic Minorities
Tamar Kintsurashvili, former general director of the Georgian Public Broadcaster (GPB), was appointed as an aide to President Saakashvili.
She will be in charge of ethnic minority issues and integration policy. The post in itself is created after the position of state minister in charge of ethnic minority issues has been abolished as a result of a recent cabinet reshuffle in January.
“Promoting tolerance – which is the Georgian government’s priority, as well as coordination of activities of various state agencies in this respect and in respect of ethnic minority issues, will be a priority for me in this position,” Kintsurashvili told Civil.Ge on April 16.
Kintsurashvili had to resign from the position of director general of GPB in early March after the authorities agreed with the opposition demand to reshuffle the public TV’s board and leadership.
