New Minister Rules Out Shifts in Georgia’s Foreign Policy
New Foreign Minister Gela Bezhuashvili reiterated that the country?s foreign policy will not be changed. He was speaking at his introduction to the Ministry staff on October 21.
?The foreign policy of the country has been defined by the Georgian people, when the country and its population elected Georgian President [Mikheil Saakashvili], this government, the parliament,? Bezhuashvili said.
The new Minister also said that he will put an end to the ?chaos and disorganization? persisting in the Foreign Ministry, as he was instructed by President Saakashvili.
?I see that there were certain flaws and that non-professionalism existed in the Ministry. But this does not mean that there is not a group of professional diplomats, who are able to pursue foreign policy and perform their duties,? Gela Bezhuashvili said.
