Geostat: Annual Inflation 2.5% in April
Annual inflation stood at 2.5% in April, after 2.6% in March, according to the Georgian state statistics office, Geostat.
On monthly bases inflation was at 0.3% in April.
Annual inflation was driven mostly by increasing prices in healthcare, alcoholic beverages and cigarettes.
Prices on alcoholic beverages increased by 11.6% year-on-year in April and on cigarettes by 10.3%, apparently attributed to increased excise tax on these products.
Prices for outpatient care rose 5.6% y/y in April and for inpatient services increased by 4.6%; there was 8.9% increase of prices on medical products, appliances and equipment in April.
Prices in transport group were down by 5.1% in April, compared to the same month of last year.
