MoD: 3 Georgian Troops Wounded in Afghanistan
Three Georgian soldiers, serving at the Bagram Air Field in the Parwan province of Afghanistan, were injured in a suicide attack, the Georgian Ministry of Defense said on November 14.
“Lives of wounded soldiers are not under threat,” MoD said, adding that the three servicemen are being treated at the Bagram Air Field hospital.
The Georgian MoD also said that the attack by a suicide bomber occurred when the Georgian troops were on patrol.
Georgia’s 51st Light Infantry Battalion took over the force protection of Bagram Air Field on November 1, 2014.
Death toll of the Georgian soldiers in the ISAF mission is 29 – all killed in action in the Helmand province. The Georgian troops ended mission in the Helmand province in July, 2014. Over 435 Georgian soldiers have been wounded in action in Afghanistan, 35 of whom are amputees.
