Reports: Sarkozy to Call for Georgia-Russia Dialogue During Tbilisi Visit

French President Nicolas Sarkozy, who mediated ceasefire between Georgia and Russia in August 2008, will urge Georgia to improve relations with Russia during his brief visit in Tbilisi as part of his trip to South Caucasus countries, Reuters reported citing Elysee source.

“You have to pick up the thread of dialogue with more determination. That is the message that Nicolas Sarkozy will send to Mikhail Saakashvili, as he did to Russian leaders,” Reuters quoted a source at the French president’s office.

Sarkozy will arrive in Armenia on Thursday evening and then visit Azerbaijan on Friday; on the same day he will arrive in Tbilisi where he will spend less than three hours during which he will make an outdoor public speech on Freedom Square before heading back to Paris, according to Reuters.
