Kokoity’s Supporters Lead in S.Ossetia Polls
With 70% of votes counted, Party of Unity leads in parliamentary elections held on Sunday in breakaway South Ossetia with over 44.2%, according to the local election commission.
Communist Party follows with 24%; People’s Party – up to 22.7%.
Party of Unity is officially backing the South Ossetian leader, Eduard Kokoity and two others are also viewed as supportive to him.
The only opposition party, running in the elections, “Fidibasta” – Fatherland Party, received up to 6,63%, according to the breakaway region’s central election commission.
