Opposition Politician Calls for Government of National Unity
Koba Davitashvili, leader of the opposition People’s Party, called for a government of national unity, which he said would strengthen national solidarity amid the on-going Russian occupation.
“The entire Georgia should be consolidated and united, but it should not be just empty words. I believe that in this very tough time there should be a national accord government, where all the major political forces should be represented and we should immediately launch consultations over the matter,” Davitashvili said on August 25.
His party is part of the opposition coalition, but the statement was made only on behalf of the People’s Party.
