French, Finnish FMs Head to Georgia

French and Finnish Foreign Ministers Bernard Kouchner and Alexander Stubb, respectively, are to arrive in Georgia on Sunday for emergency talks over the Georgia-Russia armed conflict.

“They will arrive to discuss with the Georgian leadership how to stop the war and military actions,” Peter Semneby, the EU’s special representative for the South Caucasus, told journalists in Tbilisi.

The ministers will then travel from Tbilisi to Moscow to hold talks with their Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov.

The foreign ministers’ visit was initially planned for Monday.
