Georgia Claims Seizure of Znauri

Georgian troops have “neutralized the separatist forces’ firing positions” in Znauri, a district center west of Tskhinvali, Shota Utiashvili, an Interior Ministry spokesman, told Civil.Ge at 5:40am local time on August 8.

The development follows the expulsion of South Ossetian militias from five other villages in the vicinity of the breakaway region’s capital Tskhinvali.
