A groundbreaking ceremony to mark the start of construction of the 76 kilometer Turkish section of the Baku-Akhalkalaki-Kars railway will be attended by the presidents of the three South Caucasus states in Kars on July 24.

The railway, which will link Azerbaijan with Turkey via Georgia, is expected to be completed by 2010.

A groundbreaking ceremony marking the beginning of work on the Georgian section of the railway was held in the Georgian village of Marabda in November 2007. All three regional presidents also attended.
