One Reportedly Injured in S.Ossetia Shooting

The South Ossetian side said one man was injured as a result of an attack on a police post close to the capital, Tskhinvali, overnight on July 6.

The South Ossetian Press and Information Committee reported that the gun fire came from the Georgian-controlled village of Ergneti.

It also said that the South Ossetian police post at the village of Ubiat also came under fire from the Georgian-controlled village of Nuli late on July 5. The South Ossetian side has claimed that it did not open fire in response.

The Georgian Interior Ministry, however, reported that one of its police posts at the village of Nuli came under fire by South Ossetian militiamen. It has also claimed that the South Ossetian militiamen fired mortars at the village of Kekhvi. No one was injured, the Georgian Interior Ministry said.

It has also said that the Georgian side did not return fire.
