Transdnestrian Leader Visits Tskhinvali

Igor Smirnov, leader of the breakaway Moldovan region of Transdnestria, is visiting the breakaway South Ossetian capital of Tskhinvali, the South Ossetian Press and Information Committee reported.

Smirnov arrived in Tskhinvali on Thursday evening, July 3, and met with secessionist leaders, including de facto President Eduard Kokoity.

Meanwhile, the Abkhaz news agency, Apsnipress, reported that the parliamentary assembly of the Community for Democracy and Human Rights – a group uniting breakaway Abkhazia, South Ossetia and Transdnestria, which was formed in June, 2006 – would be convened in Sokhumi on July 7.
