No Medvedev-Saakashvili Talks in Near Future – Lavrov

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that he had no information on another possible meeting between the Russian and Georgian presidents in the near future, RIA Novosti news agency reported on June 9.

Speculation of a possible meeting between Medvedev and Saakashvili emerged following comments made by the Georgian ambassador to Russia, Erosi Kitsmarishvili, who said on June 7 that during the top level talks in St. Petersburg on June 6 the Russian president had expressed a desire to hold further comprehensive talks.

“I have no information, which would let me make such an announcement, that a new Russo-Georgian summit will be held in the near future,” RIA Novosti quoted Lavrov as saying.
