Georgian Defense Minister Attends U.S.-led Coalition Forces Summit

Georgian Defense Minister Giorgi Baramidze will participate in a meeting of the Defense Ministers from 16 countries which are the members of the U.S.-led anti-terrorism coalition forces. Baramidze departed from Tbilisi on October 8.


According to the Georgian Defense Ministry, the meeting will take place on board the U.S. aircraft John F. Kennedy in the Persian Gulf.


Baramidze is planning bilateral meetings with U.S. Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld, as well as with his counterparts from Ukraine, Bulgaria, Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, Azerbaijan and Romania.
 
Military and security issues will be discussed at the talks among the Defense Ministers.  
 
During the bilateral talks between Giorgi Baramidze and Donald Rumsfeld, the issues of bilateral cooperation and future joint plans will be discussed.
