S.Ossetian, Abkhaz Leaders Pledge to Boost Ties
South Ossetian and Abkhaz leaders, Eduard Kokoity and Sergey Bagapsh, respectively, attended a ceremony of opening breakaway South Ossetian embassy in Sokhumi on April 15, Apsnipress news agency reported.
On the same day the two breakaway regions signed an agreement on cooperation between the customs services and trade-industrial chambers.
?Signing of these agreements is no PR stunt, but it is directed towards mutually beneficial relations between our republics,? Apsnipress quoted Kokoity as saying. ?We do not create any aggressive alliances; our activities are directed towards creation.?
He also added that Abkhazia was ?a very reliable partner? and South Ossetia was interested in economic cooperation with it.
?Time has come to solve practical economic issues, as it is impossible to proceed without it,? Bagapsh said.
He also stressed the necessity for ?synchronization of Abkhaz and South Ossetian laws with each other and with those of Russia?s.?
