Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Meets Abkhaz Leader
Russia’s deputy foreign minister, Grigory Karasin, met with Abkhaz leader, Sergey Bagapsh, in Moscow on April 5.
The Russian Foreign Ministry reported that the situation around resolution of Abkhaz conflict was discussed.
“The sides focused on the concerns related to Georgia’s aspiration to NATO, which were reflected in the recent letter of Sergey Bagapsh to Vladimir Putin and in a response message of the Russian President,” the Russian Foreign Ministry reported.
Bagapsh’s visit to Moscow comes after President Putin told the secessionist Abkhaz and South Ossetian leaders in a written message that Russia would boost cooperation with the two regions.
