Shelling Reported in South Ossetian Conflict Zone
A South Ossetian militia post in the village of Okona in the Znauri district of South Ossetia came under intense fire from Georgian-controlled areas early on March 31, the South Ossetian Press and Information Committee reported.
According to the report, special troops of the Georgian Defense Ministry targeted the South Ossetian post by mortar rounds. No casualties have been reported.
“Forty minutes after the shelling started, the South Ossetian side was forced to respond; only afterwards did the shelling cease,,” the South Ossetian Press and Information Committee reported.
The Georgian side has denied the report and blamed the South Ossetian side of opening fire.
