Burjanadze Tells Opposition to Call off Hunger Strike

Parliamentary Chairperson Nino Burjanadze said on March 14 that “the language of ultimatums and rallies” would not work and called on the opposition to call a halt to their hunger strike and resume dialogue.

She suggested that the ongoing protest was merely a pre-election ploy and “an attempt to exacerbate the situation, which is totally unacceptable.” “Hunger strikes are not the way to resolve problems,” Burjanadze said.
