Opposition Figure Discusses Imedi TV with Patarkatsishvili Family

Giorgi Khaindrava, an individual member of the opposition eight-party coalition, said on March 13 that he had discussed the future of Imedi TV with Badri Patarkatsishvili’s widow, Inna Gudavadze, at a meeting in London.

He told reporters in Tbilisi that the meeting was also attended by Boris Berezovsky, Patarkatsishvili’s friend and former business partner.

Khaindrava declined to comment on the details of the meeting, but said that Patarkatsishvili’s widow planned to make a statement on the matter soon. He said despite the Georgian authorities’ attempts to, as he put it, seize the TV station, “we will not let it happen.”

The Patarkatsishvili family said in a statement in February: “The family will continue to support the charitable Badri Patarkatsishvili Foundation and will decide the future of TV and radio company Imedi – the two most important projects in Badri’s life.”

While Imedi radio station continues broadcasting, the TV station has been off the air since late December.
