Georgia Wants MPs Involvement in Regional Democratic Alliance
The Georgian Parliament discussed on March 14 a special statement, envisaging the creation of “a parliamentary component” in frames of the Community of Democratic Choice (CDC) uniting Ukraine, Georgia, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Romania, Moldova, Slovenia and Macedonia.
Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee for European Integration Issues Davit Bakradze said at the Parliament’s session, that the Georgian lawmakers will request President Saakashvili to voice the Georgian Parliament’s this initiative at the forthcoming summit of the CDC scheduled in Vilnius for May “so that to launch the parliamentary relations starting from May.”
Parliamentary Chairperson Nino Burjanadze said that the CDC, which aims at assisting the Black Sea region in its integration into NATO and the European Union, is “a very important initiative that cannot remain beyond the Parliament’s attention.”
