Georgian Security Forum Opens in Tbilisi

The Georgian Security Forum organized by the Georgian Defense Ministry in conjunction with the International Security Advisory Board for Georgia (ISAB) was officially opened in Tbilisi on February 17.

Defence Minister Irakli Okruashvili, Prime Minister Zurab Nogaideli and other officials are participating in the forum.

According to the Georgian Defense Ministry, ISAB Chairman General Sir Garry Johnson will present ISAB’s 2006 report at the conference. ISAB has been working on a comprehensive top-down program of national security sector reform in Georgia since 1999.

The Forum will gather high level security policy makers from NATO countries and prominent Euro-Atlantic security policy experts.

The participants will basically focus on the developments in the Georgian security sector during the two years since the Rose Revolution, and on the progress made on the way toward NATO integration.
