Russian MPs Visit South Ossetia

A group of Russian parliamentarians led by Mikhail Babich, Deputy Chairman of the Defense Committee of the State Duma, the lower house of the Russian parliament, will travel to breakaway South Ossetia on February 15 to study the situation in the conflict zone.

On February 14 the Russian MPs held talks in Tbilisi with the Chairmen of the Parliamentary Committees for Defense and Security and Foreign Affairs, the Deputy Foreign Minister and the State Minister for Conflict Resolution Issues.

“In Tskhinvali we will listen to the other side and study the conditions and results of the activities of the Russian peacekeepers,” MP Babich said.
