Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Valery Loshchinin held talks with South Ossetian leader Eduard Kokoity in Moscow on October 31, the Russian Foreign Ministry reported.
The sides discussed the issue of further developing the peace process in the South Ossetian conflict zone on the eve of the forthcoming session of the quadripartite Joint Control Commission, which will be held in Ljubljana, Slovenia on November 15-16 – initiated by the OSCE Chairman-in-Office, Slovenian Foreign Minister Dimitrij Rupel.
During the JCC session the Georgian side will seek for a change in the current negotiating formula ? the quadripartite Joint Control Commission, which includes the Georgian, South Ossetian, Russian and Russia?s North Ossetian sides – by involving representatives of the United States and the OSCE, while the South Ossetian side aims to defend the current format of negotiations as ?the most effective one.?
