Georgian Energy Minister Visits Moscow
Georgian Energy Minister Nika Gilauri and President of the Georgian International Gas Corporation Davit Ingorokva left for Moscow on September 6 to hold talks with Chairman of the Russian energy giant Gazprom, Alexei Miller.
According to the Georgian Energy Ministry, the sides will basically discuss a long-term agreement between Georgia and Gazprom, which will be signed before the end of 2005 and which will clearly design the commitments of the two sides.
Reportedly, the issue of a possible increase in the price of gas will also be discussed in Moscow. Currently, Georgia pays Gazprom USD 60 per 1000 cubic meters of gas, but unofficial reports say that Gazprom plans to raise the price up to USD 70 per 1000 cubic meters.
