U.S. Military Experts’ Office Robbed in MoD

News broke on July 4 that the office of American military experts, which is located in the Georgian Ministry of Defense (MoD), was robbed late last month.

According to the Georgian Defense Ministry, laptop computers and an unspecified amount of money was stolen.

Part of the Georgian Defense Ministry’s staff has already moved into the new office. The robbery occurred in the MoD’s old office, which will soon be transferred to the Financial Police.

The U.S. military experts, whose office was robbed, are employed by the Washington-based security firm Cubic Applications International, and consult Georgian Defense officials regarding military reforms. The firm was contracted by the U.S. government as part of the military assistance program.

Last March, USD 150,000 belonging to U.S. military instructors, who were training the Georgian troops, was also stolen from the Krtsanisi training field outside Tbilisi.
