Bagapsh Declared President-Elect of Breakaway Abkhazia

The Central Election Commission (CEC) of breakaway Abkhazia confirmed, on January 14, Sergey Bagapsh the winner of the January 12 presidential elections, Russian news agencies report.

According to the final vote tally, approved by the Abkhaz CEC, more than 75,000 of the total 129,000 registered voters cast a ballot in Wednesday’s election. Sergey Bagapsh garnered more than 69,000 of these votes, while his contender, Iakub Lakoba, recieved only around 3,000 votes.
