Georgia, Russia Sign Ferry Service Agreement

On January 10 visiting Russian Transport Minister Igor Levitin and Georgian Economy Minister Lexo Alexishvili signed an agreement over a ferry service to transport cargo trains between the Georgian port of Poti and Russian port of Kavkaz.


Reportedly, the launch of the ferry service will be possible within ten days. Georgia currently operates this kind of ferry service with Romania, Bulgaria and Ukraine. 

Georgian Economy Minister Lexo Alexishvili told reporters that Georgia and Turkey are currently negotiating over launching a rail ferry service between the port of Poti and the Turkish port of Samsun.
