Security Minister Postpones Visit to Moscow
Security Minister Valeri Khaburdzania’s visit to Moscow, which was scheduled for December 26, was postponed, as the Security Ministry explained, because of “technical problems.”
The Ministry reported that the visit was postponed for unknown period.
Extradition of Shota Chichiashvili, suspected in several high-profile kidnappings, was scheduled during the Georgian Security Minister’s visit.
Chichiashvili allegedly masterminded kidnappings of two Spanish businessmen in 2000, Georgian Parliamentarian Petre Tsiskarishvili and the British banker Peter Shaw in 2002.
Georgian law enforcers detained Shota Chichiashvili in Moscow on June 24, in cooperation with the Russian counterparts.
