Elections are Canceled in Khashuri

(Tbilisi, June 2, Civil Georgia) – Local self-governance elections are canceled in Khashuri (town in central part of Georgia) because the ballots were not handed out in the elections districts there.

The elections may also be canceled in Kutaisi and Zugdidi (cities in western part of Georgia).

Elections of city Mayor has not started in Kutaisi yet and many violations have occurred at the Sakrebulo (city council) elections already.

The situation is extremely tense in Zugdidi. Some ballot boxes were broken deliberately and armed attacks occurred there.

The local self-governance elections was also canceled in Rustavi (city in south) where the ballots were stolen and burnt even before it was handed out.
